    ¡Viva España!

    [Nikon D5300]

Summer trip to Spain in 2023. Barcelona, Girona, Zaragosa, León, Burgos, Gitaria, San Sebastian. Catalonia, Aragon, Navarre, Castile y León, La Rioja, and Basque Country.

I have never seen wine put into a glass directly from the barrel with a giant syringe.
Inside Bodega Lecea. Their town full of vintners went under mid-1900s and they are the only family that stayed. All the houses have private wine caves/cellars, not made to any code, from hundreds of years ago. They have bought nine of them, and connected 5, with plans to connect them all eventually. They run the town now, essentially, and are one of the larger wineries in the area.

I think this is a cooper.
Our guide would get sent down to this pile as a child to get one of grandpa's 'special vintage.'
All the caves had an air vent.
Emily, the Lecea heiress, and Rebeka, our tour guide.
They used to transport wine to the market for sale and delivery in a goat canteen. An entire goat was made into a giant bag. I got to carry this one on my back just to see what it was like.
The new tunnels, where we were not allowed.
The high-speed train bridges were all over.
They left this stuff here to be photographed, obviously.

Every seat was different here, and little figures leapt out of every corner.

The woodcarvers made some money from the church here.

The family crests adorn the intersections of the arches above.
El Cid was prominent in this town, so they have this in honor of his death.
If you have won a battle against the Moors, you get to put downward-facing crescents on your heraldry.
    Another floor shot.
Add an entire little golden castle, because a 30-foot wall of gold constructs wasn't adequate.
A bunch of Flemish and Belgian artificers were tasked with decorating this chapel. They pretty much win, compared to all the other ones in this cathedral.
    Pew pew pew.
